The Belize Literary Prize

The Belize Literary Prize is an annual award celebrating the creativity and talent of Belizean writers, both emerging and established. Founded to encourage a love of reading and writing across the country, the Prize recognises outstanding works of fiction, poetry, and other literary forms that reflect the voices, cultures, and experiences of Belize.

Organised by the Belize Book Sector Network, the Prize seeks to inspire new generations of writers and to showcase Belizean literature on both a national and international stage. Each year’s theme invites participants to explore different aspects of life, history, and imagination through the written word.

Winning and shortlisted entries are featured here on the BBSN website, allowing readers everywhere to discover and enjoy Belize’s growing body of home-grown literature.

Whether you’re an aspiring author or a lifelong reader, the Belize Literary Prize offers a platform to celebrate the power of words — and the stories that shape who we are as Belizeans.
